Thinking Question 1

If Fahrquhar had not acted so rashly and rushed to Owl Creek Bridge without researching it or planning a strategy of attack, the story would have taken an entirely different turn. What do you thing would have happened if Fahrquhar had taken his time and done his research before blindly racing to his doom? Would he have warned the village about the dangerous spy? Or perhaps he would have ignored his research and rushed to the bridge anyway. Also, if he did alter his course of action, would it change the story-line at all?

  1. I think if he had waited and not rushed into things the story could have turned out completely different. Personally I think he should have gone and talked to some of the others instead or going on the word of one man he doesn't even know. If he had talked to others about it and set a plan he might have learned that it was a trick and there wasn't actually driftwood there. I think it had the potential to change the entire course of the story line, he could have lived instead of dyed he could have warned others like you said and possibly saved some others lives but instead he chose haste and brought great pain to all those who loved him.

    1. i definitely agree. He should have gathered more information, instead of taking the word of a stranger. If he had, the ending could have been changed completely.

  2. He definitely acted out of haste and desperation for a noble yet stupid act for his "country" (or side of it). It also would have definitely altered the entire story had he done a little more research. Even if he had not done research, if he had not gone alone and told the Southern soldiers where he was going and had them for back up, it definitely would have been an interesting twist to the story

    1. Having the Southern soldiers to back him up could have been a super interesting twist to the story and added a lot more to it. I hadn't thought about that and how he could have gone to them for some help.
